Each week we are going to have a group of predictions spread around the NFL. Analysts, media personalities and other podcast hosts have let us know how they think this Chiefs game against the Eagles will end up. The standings next to each person is their record so far for the year.
Here is our week two pregame and predictions.
Matt Williamson – National NFL Analyst – 0-1 – The Philadelphia defense is to be feared and I expect Alex Smith to be under quite a bit of pressure. However, I also expect Tyreek Hill to break free at least once. Philadelphia might not have a great answer for Travis Kelce either. I am a huge believer in Carson Wentz, but he too should be under a lot of pressure. Playing in Kansas City is a very challenging task for even the most experienced of quarterbacks. Eagles 23, Chiefs 27
Connor Rogers – Host of the Sticktofootball Podcast – 0-1 Carson Wentz struggles against a much tougher defense and while Kareem Hunt might come back to reality, Tyreek Hill should burn Philly for a big play.Eagles 13, Chiefs 21
Mike Renner – Senior Analyst ProFootballFocus.com – 0-0 – The Kansas City offensive line success in week 1 had as much to do with the opponent as any significant off season improvement. They face arguably the best front 4 in the NFL. Alex Smith won’t have nearly as much time to work. Eagles 26, Chiefs 20
A quick look back at the news after last weeks win against the New England Patriots
Matt Derrick – Publisher ChiefsDigest.com – 1-0 – Kansas City is coming off a high following the upset over the Patriots. Setting aside the distractions stands a tougher opponent than Philadelphia. To win the Chiefs must win the battle in the trenches. However, that means protecting Alex Smith from the Eagles’ physical front seven. On defense they must contain Carson Wentz in the pocket. They have to stop him from extending plays and connecting down field. Eagles 24, Chiefs 21
Carrington Harrison – 610 Sports – 0-1 – Andy Reid with extra time is one of the 3 best coaches in NFL. I expect Arrowhead to be juiced off the big win. I also don’t think Philadelphia can stop Tyreek Hill. Eagles 20, Chiefs 27
Cody Tapp – SportsRadio 810 – 0-1 – Andy Reid admitted that what Doug Peterson and the Eagles do is very close to what Doug did in KC. I think Reid uses it to his advantage. They don’t let the big win make them feel comfortable. Eagles 17, Chiefs 24
Arrowheads Abroad – Chiefs UK and International Supporters Club (Dave) – 0-1 – Kansas City will need to be wary of Fletcher Cox and the Philly front 7, but there should be plenty to take advantage of in a shaky DB group missing its best corner. Look for Tyreek to have another big day. Think it’ll be close early with KC finishing strong. Eagles 17, Chiefs 31
Mark Schofield – Locked on Patriots Senior Analyst – 0-1 – We saw on opening night how Kansas City is able to scheme some match ups in the vertical passing game, using shifts and motions to get defenders out of position. With the Eagles suffering some injuries in the secondary, KC should have some more opportunities downfield. Jim Schwartz likes to blitz and might get a defender home a few times. However, a few deep shots can change the course of a game in a hurry. Eagles 20, Chiefs 27
Ryan Tracy, Locked on Chiefs Senior Analyst – 1-0 – Chiefs offense will produce but not quite as well as they did week 1. The defense is able to get to Carson Wentz. Eagles 17, Chiefs 24
Chris Clark, Locked on Chiefs Senior Analyst – 0-1 – Kansas City has to start quick against the Eagles and keep the defensive line from pinning their ears back. Reid is usually great against former coaches and I don’t expect this to be any different. KC also plays well at home in Arrowhead. Eagles 17, Chiefs 28
For those of you video gamers out there…
Madden 2018 – 1-0 – The Eagles jumped out to an early lead but Kansas City was able to rally in the fourth quarter and hold on at the end to win. Eagles 20, Chiefs 26
