Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 3 Report Card

The Chiefs came out victorious in week 3 with a 24-10 win over the San Diego Chargers.  Defensive play, led by cornerback Terrance Mitchell and his two interceptions, was a bright spot for the Chiefs.  Kareem Hunt and the rushing attack was on full display Sunday.  Hunt rumbled to another 100+ yard game and added the exclamation point with a 69 yard touchdown run sealing the game.  Of all the positives, there was one glaring issue the Chiefs definitely need to address, the pass protection.  Although Alex Smith played a good game, he was still sacked five times and knocked down several more.  The Chiefs need to have better protection for Smith heading into a week 4 matchup with Redskins.

Kareem Hunt got a chance to show what kind of player he is when Spencer Ware went down for the season.  He was thrust into the starting job and given an opportunity to showcase his skills.  Hunt has had an awesome start to the season and has a big part in why the Chiefs are 3-0.  But just HOW dominant he Hunt been to start the season.  Through 3 games, Hunt has 528 total yards from scrimmage.  That number puts him at second most of anyone ever through three games.  Hunt has power, speed and agility to change the game with a big play at any time, something he has shown several times already.  The Chiefs will need him to continue his rushing dominance if they want to keep having offensive success.
